Artist’s Statement:
Life as an artist is about constant learning and evolving. This year marks 20 years of my life as a painter.
This is the first time I have painted a protea. It started out as a pink rose and then I decided to change it along the way to a Pink Ice Protea. I’ve always loved watching the cycle of the protea flower from raw strength to wilted weakness. Protea are named after Proteus, the ancient Greek sea god who was capable of changing his appearance at will.
As a multi award-winning artist and master gilder, I have held 27 solo exhibitions and a recent finalist in the Mid-West Art Prize and The Kalgoorlie Art Prize.
I have exhibited nationally and internationally and operated my own art gallery in Margaret River. My paintings are collected worldwide and also adorn life size replica cows, wine labels, book covers, placemats and magazine adverts.
